How to Win A Silat Olahrga Match

It is not easy to be a silat champion. You need to train harder and sacrifice many things to achieve the champion status. Many peoples thought that this sport requires a fighter with 'born to be a fighter' quality in order to win a silat match. In one point it is true. However, it is not always right. This is because silat olahraga is a point-based system sport that not only requires you to be good a fighter, but also requires you master the fighting tactics during the match.

Many so-called 'born to be a fighter' exponents fail in early silat competition due to the stupidity to read a game. They tend to use all the self defense moves and skills to show how good they are in silat. But, the true is, silat olahraga is a very simple sport. You only need to master three simple techniques to win a game. There are; punching, kicking and topple down.

Here are the explanations of each of the technique in silat olahraga;

1. The punching technique. The most dangerous technique in silat is straight-punch. The jury will reward you one point for every successful hit to your opponent. In addition, you need to be good at other skill such as blocking technique in order to gain more points in silat match. However, if you block the opponent strike and followed with a successful punch, the jury will reward you 'one plus one point' or two points.

Based on these issues, it is important for you to train the blocking technique in order to gain more points using the punching technique. Scientific research shows that the number of successful hit using the punching technique is more than the kicking technique. Thus, by combining both techniques, you will have advantage to win a silat olahraga match.

2. The kicking technique. Even thought, the scientific research shows that the percentage of successful punching technique is higher than kicking technique, the point scores for every successful kick is two points. Thus, the combination of successful blocking and kicking technique will reward you 'one plus two point' or three points. This is critical if you only rely on kicking technique. You need to combine both of the defensive and attacking techniques to win a silat game.

3. Topple down technique. The jury loves this technique. When a silat fight between two silat exponents is even, topple down technique can influence the result of the fight. The secret is to train this technique at least 100 times a day with your partner. You also need to record and improve this technique until it is perfect.

Silat olahraga is a sport that can enhance your silat skills with these three simple techniques. You need to make silat olahraga simple in order to win a silat match brilliantly.

There are many reasons for young students aged 12 to 17 years old to learn silat in Malaysia. Most people including their parents think the main reasons are because of self defense purposes. However, there are other reasons that influence youngsters to join silat training programs.

Scientific study showed that there are three main reasons besides of self defense factor on why young peoples involve in silat. There are; to release energy, family and friendship factors. These three reasons are the main participation factors that influence many young exponents to join silat training as their favourite co-curriculum activities in school. By knowing the factors that motivates many youngsters to involve in silat program, silat instructors can plan specific activities that can help to increase the number of participation in silat program.

The 'to release energy' factor is the main factor on why youngster involves in silat particularly between male and female exponents. The physical activities and exercises in silat training system will help the young exponents to stay fit and get in shape when they attend the training session. They also loves the challenge they get when participate in vigorous silat activities such as punching, kicking, jumping, evading, blocking, running, agility and speed movements training.

The second factor is the 'influence from family'. Family plays important roles for youngster to participate in silat sessions particularly between upper (16 and 17 years old) and lower form (13, 14 and 15 years old) in school. This is true if the father, mother or any sibling in the family involves in silat training, tournament or coaching. This factor is very important particularly for those who actively practise silat since they were kid.

The third factor is the 'friend factor'. This is the most interesting factor as it can increase the silat exponent performance in silat. This factor can be seen by silat instructor every year on number of participation of students from 13 years old age. This is because most of the students at 13 years old of age just moved from primary to secondary school. So, they follow their friend advice on which club or association to pick for their own co-curriculum activities. The bad news is that this is also the reason why many youngsters drop-out from silat training. This is happens when the silat exponents try to achieve the higher level in silat (red and black belt) but distracts by numbers of reasons such as examination year, tuition, lost interest, injury, entertainment and many more.

Thus, it is important for every silat coach to know these three factors that can influence students to actively involve in silat training program. A well-structured training program will help them to stay in the training until they leave their secondary school.

This is not a new training system to build up your catching skills in silat olahraga. You are also required to practice the sweeping technique due to the different style and size of your opponent.

3. You need to record your training drills and competition match. This is critical because looking back to your body, feet and hand movements in training; you will determine the weakness and fighting ability in competition. You performance will be better from the previous training and fighting sessions by recording all your workouts and fights to improve your fighting style in future.

Silat olahraga is a dangerous sport if one doesn't know the level of energy demand in a match. You need to be fit and fast to strike and defend in order to win silat match. Three Moves That Make Silat The Best Fighting Style In Self Defense

Silat is a national self defense in Malaysia. It is known as the best fighting style in self defense. The silat techniques have been used by police, royal army, securities and professional bodyguard in order to increase their self defense moves.

The strength of silat is based from the step movements and deadly skills that can knock out your enemy instantly. Many silat experts admit that the silat movements are originated from the art of war. Thus, all the techniques are based from human geometrical lines that suite with human movements. However, there are three self defense moves that you need to master in order to use silat effectively as self defense. There are;

1. Defensive moves. You need to master the defensive moves to counter strike your opponent. It is also important to determine the distance of your opponent from you in order to fight back with a proper defensive technique. In addition, you need to master the avoiding technique to receive any strikes from your opponent within 1-2 meters away from you. However, if the distance is within one meter, you need to block the strike. Both techniques should follow with counter strikes to your opponent either with hand or leg. The catching and locking techniques are only used to receive any fast strikes within 0.5 meter from you.

2. Attacking moves. The silat philosophy is 'to avoid the fight unless in desperate situation'. Thus, it is impossible to see any silat exponents involve in any crimes due to this quote. However, if there are any emergency situations, you can use your skills to stop any crimes including robbery, fighting or theft. Some attacking techniques that you need to master in order to attack are punching and kicking. You also need to master the fake strikes in order to confuse your opponent. These fighting techniques are important particularly when you fight with somebody that is bigger than you. Any strikes that aimed to specific killer point on your opponent body can help you to save time while fighting with more than two opponents.

3. Counter attack moves. This is a powerful skill that rarely found in other self defense. It is also known as 'potong'. Counter attack is used when your opponent catch your hand in order to lock your movements. Usually, your opponent will badly injure due to the effectiveness of this technique. This is the best skill to beat any martial arts or other self defense that emphasizes on catching and locking techniques.

Thus, silat is the best fighting style due to the factors described above in any fighting situation. This is because silat is originated from the art of war that emphasizes more on attacking moves rather than defensive moves. However, due to it uniqueness, many peoples falsely thought that silat is just for entertainment rather than self defense.
